How was the 2015 Birdfair – the Glastonbury For Birdwatchers?

How was the 2015 Birdfair – the Glastonbury For Birdwatchers?

September 15, 2015 , oddny.edwards

Can you believe it!? The Glastonbury for birdwatchers is already over! No neither can we!

This year was super exciting for us in our new location alongside the optics tent where we launched what we believe to be the first true travel tripod with a pan-head – the VEO 235AP. We presented to show visitors, journalists, industry contacts and even the odd celebrity and so far, once they see the design of the product and the price, nobody has been able to suggest an alternative! If you can, please let us know so we can do a comparison.

Stand 3
The VEO 235AP itself was incredibly well received. Weighing just 1.5kg and folding down to less than 40cm long and 10cm across the lightweight and compact design that makes it extremely portable. Despite this the tripod extends to 144cm and can take a solid 3.5kg load. When this is combined with the innovative pan-head design with a smooth motion, the VEO 235AP is perfect for spotting scopes. The overwhelming feedback we received was that the VEO 235AP is a tripod that allows birdwatchers to take their spotting scope with them on holiday abroad or more adventurous trips with ease, rather than limiting themselves to binoculars or struggling to pack a tripod.

To judge for yourself, you can visit your local dealer for a demonstration or visit our website.
However the icing on the cake was that we got to meet so many of our customers face to face. We met a fantastic mix of customers. Those who had owned a Vanguard product for many years and came over to say hello and see what was new. Those who had heard about Vanguard and came over to find out more. Those who had never heard of Vanguard and stumbled across the stand and came for a look. Even those who popped into the stand to shelter from one of the few showers that every Glastonbury style event suffers from.

Stand 2
At the stand the customers had the opportunity to enter a Free Prize Draw for one of our new VEO 235AP tripods. The lucky winner has been informed and bad luck to everyone else who entered – better luck next year!
Customers also got to try out a wide range of optics and accessories, including binoculars, spotting scopes, camera bags, tripods and monopods. Overwhelming favourites were the Endeavor ED II binoculars (which were widely praised for their optical quality thanks to the Japanese HOYA glass at a great price), the VEO Collection (especially the VEO 235AP and the innovative VEO 37 shoulder bag) and the new Havana range of bags (designed not to look like traditional camera bags). What was particularly motivating was the number of customers who visited our stand before looking at the alternatives and came back, demonstrating that we have some fantastic products!

Why not visit to check them out for yourself?
Over the three days we had a huge amount of interest and another record breaking year. As a result, we’ll definitely book our place again for next year and we look forward to seeing you for another great Birdfair in 2016!
In the meantime,

Happy Birding!
